Accessibility Statement

This statement applies to the Essex Pension Fund’s websites:, and

This website is run by Hymans Robertson on behalf of Essex Pension Fund. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website and have written all the text in plain English to be as simple as possible to understand.

In addition to this you should also be able to:

  • change colours, contrast levels and fonts
  • zoom in up to 300% without the text spilling off the screen
  • navigate most of the website using just a keyboard
  • navigate most of the website using speech recognition software
  • listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver)

AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.

How accessible is this website?

We know some parts of this website are not fully accessible and are working to remedy this, for example

  • you cannot modify the line height or spacing of text
  • some of our older PDF documents are not fully accessible to screen reader software
  • some of our online forms are difficult to navigate using just a keyboard

We are currently undertaking an audit of all our PDF and MS Word documents to ensure that they can be used with a screen reader and anticipate that this will be completed in early 2021.

You can adjust the text size and colour using the display options provided by your internet browser.

Reporting accessibility problems with this website

We’re always looking to improve the accessibility of this website. If you find any problems not listed on this page or think we’re not meeting accessibility requirements, please contact:

Enforcement procedure

The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) is responsible for enforcing the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018 (the ‘accessibility regulations’). If you’re not happy with how we respond to your complaint, contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS).

Technical information about this website’s accessibility

Essex Pension Fund is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

Compliance status

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 AA standard, due to the non-compliances and exemptions listed below:

Non-accessible content

The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons:

  • some of our older PDF documents are not fully accessible to screen reader software
  • there is no in-site ability to change the font size and colour, however you can amend these details using options available through your internet browser.

Disproportionate burden

Some of our PDFs are not accessible but it would be a disproportionate burden to update, particularly those which are extremely long and used by a low number of people.

PDFs and other documents

Some of our PDFs and Word documents are essential to providing our services. For example, we have PDFs with information about the LGPS, guides for both scheme members and employers, and documents about the Essex Pension Fund’s performance (annual report) and our policies.  We also use PDF and Word to publish essential forms.

We are currently undertaking a full audit of our PDFs and MS Word documents to convert them all (where possible) to an accessible PDF format by early 2021.

The accessibility regulations do not require us to fix PDFs or other documents published before 23 September 2018 if they’re not essential to providing our services.

We do not plan to amend:

  •  Archived Annual Reports
  •  Archived 'Prime' Newsletters
  •  Archived 'Our Time' Newsletters
